COURSE OVERVIEW: This course has been designed to give a broad view of the fundamental factors involved in the field of global trade, international logistics and supply chain management.
The following modules will be covered:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts underlying importing and exporting
- Apply knowledge of basic geographical principles
- Explain transport principles used in international trade
- Demonstrate an understanding of marine insurance concepts
- Apply basic concepts of cargo care
- Carry out routine freight forwarding processes and procedures
- Explain special requirements for documenting and transporting dangerous goods
- Demonstrate an understanding of security and confidentiality awareness procedures
- Apply basic business ethics in a work environment
- Apply basic skills of customer service
- Manage business operations
- Operate a personal computer
- Use electronic mail to send and receive messages
- Manage time and the work process in a business environment
- Access and use information from texts
- Apply basic knowledge of statistics and probability to influence the use of data and procedures in order to investigate life related problems
- Demonstrate an understanding of rational and irrational numbers and number systems
- Identify, describe, compare, classify, explore shape and motion in 2-and-3-dimensional shapes in different contexts
- Maintain and adapt oral/signed communication Use language and communication in occupational learning programmes
- Use mathematics to investigate and monitor the financial aspects of personal and community life
